Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Unveils Framework to Achieve 100% Renewable Energy Adoption

Date:

Basseterre, Saint Kitts (Public Infrastructure News) – A two-day workshop held at the Saint Kitts Marriott Resort on June 3-4, 2026, marked the official launch of the Renewable Energy Transition Roadmap, a strategic initiative designed to support Saint Kitts and Nevis in achieving 100 percent renewable electricity generation.

The workshop brought together government officials, energy experts, utility representatives, and international partners to begin shaping a strategic pathway toward a cleaner, more resilient and sustainable energy future.

The Renewable Energy Transition Roadmap will provide a comprehensive framework for identifying policies, investments and technologies needed to transform the Federation’s energy sector. The process, which is expected to last approximately 18 months, will include stakeholder consultations, technical assessments and investment planning to support the development of a coordinated and practical pathway to a fully renewable electricity system.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Honourable Konris Maynard, Minister responsible for Energy, highlighted the significant progress the federation has already made in the energy sector, noting several initiatives currently underway.

The Renewable Energy Transition Roadmap is supported by the European Union through the Euroclima Caribbean Programme and is being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Greening the Islands (GFI) Foundation under the European Union’s Global Gateway Investment Agenda.
