WSD Issues Notice of Extended Water Service Interruption for Beacon Heights, Dewars and Upper Shadwell West

Date:

Basseterre, St. Kitts (Public Infrastructure News) – The St. Kitts Water Services Department (WSD) regrets to inform the general public that the service interruption that initially impacted Beacon Heights, Dewars, and Upper Shadwell West on Monday, February 16, 2026, has been extended until further notice.

The interruption was triggered following assessments that the volume of water in the storage tank had dropped to a level that could not sustain continuous distribution to the areas.

After thorough assessments, the team determined that the interruption was caused by a malfunctioning pump and subsequently commenced urgent repairs to that pump.

At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, officials indicated that repairs were still in progress. No estimated restoration time was given, but officials said it would be provided once more information became available.

To minimize the impact of the interruption on residents, the WSD will deploy water trucks to the affected areas from 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, beginning with Dewars. Residents are asked to have their receptacles ready to collect water during this time.

The Department is encouraging all customers impacted by the interruption to visit the official WSD channels, including this one, for updates. Visit mopieudt.gov.kn and water.gov.kn, or follow the WSD on Facebook for more information.

The WSD sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause and assures all affected customers that the Department remains committed to restoring service as swiftly as possible.

To report additional water service issues, please call the water services hotline at (869) 662-4307.
