The Energy Unit Lights Up Basseterre on Glow Walk

Date:

The Energy Unit in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities, and Domestic Transport lit the streets of Basseterre in a Glow Walk on Saturday, November 23, 2024, to shed light on the importance of energy to sustainable living practices as part of the celebrations of CARICOM Energy Month.

The LED Glow Walk is a captivating and enlightening event combining entertainment, education, and community engagement to promote energy efficiency, reduce our carbon footprint, and encourage a healthier lifestyle.

Men, women, and children wearing CARICOM-branded t-shirts participated in the three-mile walk from Greenlands to National Heroes Park via Wellington Road, carrying various LED devices to illuminate themselves. Complementing the chorus of lights was a DJ who provided musical entertainment and announced various energy-saving tips for spectators along the route.

Director of the Energy Unit, Dr. Bertill Browne, said, “I was encouraged by the turnout, as it shows that the message of energy efficiency and conservation is resonating with the public.”
